Throughout various stages of my life, I have been overcome with great sadness and pain for all the losses suffered by my family and my country. We have suffered, and so have the generations before us. It has always hurt the most for the people and the art. And there is this constant feeling that it shouldn't be this way.

It hurt when I thought that a neighbor might come and brazenly take what did not belong to him. Those achievements acquired through hard work, those beautiful heirlooms, homes.

But as I learned about the history of buildings and artists, as I touched on songs and creativity in people's everyday lives, another side opened up:

As much grief and pain as there is on our land, there is just as much strength, faith, and struggle for what is truly yours.
